Creek trail, grass, and a pond for summer dips. The most scenic of the three and the best one for a dog that wants to swim rather than sprint.

NewBark Dog Park, Newark

At Newark Community Park, and the newest of the three. Worth the drive if your usual spot is busy.

All three are free

Just bring water and a poop bag. We keep both by the register on Fremont Blvd if you forget.

Fee-waived adoptions statewide. The Tri-City shelter usually runs its own event alongside it.

Summer — heat safety

Paws, walks and water. If the pavement is too hot for the back of your hand for seven seconds, it is too hot for a dog's pads. Walk early or late.

Fall — senior pet wellness check season

A good time for the annual vet visit, and the point in the year when we see most owners switch an older dog onto a senior formula.
